#1 and #3 Make it look nice

This week begins the World's largest music festival Summerfest.
That means thousands of people will be walking by the WKTI broadcast booth at the Big Gig, so we got to make it look all nice. So I put our best interns on the job of cleanup (sorry Intern #2). Interns #1 and #3 both realize that the world of broadcasting is so much more than talking into a microphone so they both eagerly grabbed some paper towel and showed some determination in getting our booth all clean.

Intern #3 wiping up the beer that was spilt last year at the WKTI booth. Intern #1 in background not working.

Intern #3 getting an old stain of Saz's Mozzarella Marinara off the counter, Intern #1 still not working.

Feel free to use the broom Intern #1.

Oh she does know how to use the broom. Way to go Intern #1!

If you are coming out to the FEST take notice of how clean the booth is thanks to Interns #1 and #3 learning all about the world of broadcasting this summer.

Quiz time

Next week is the 4th of July. America's Independence day. I'll be heading to West Bend and Germantown for the 4th of July parades.. that's something we do on the 4th. Then maybe a cookout, and of course the fireworks show. But should we be allowed to celebrate our nations birthday? Do we really know the history of our country? If you were new to this country and were trying to become a citizen we would have to study up and learn all about the good ol' USA. So let's see how much you know. Can you pass the test? Click on this link and take the test and let me know how you did.

Don't worry if you don't do well we won't call the authorities.

In case your wondering I got questions 8, 18, and 20 wrong.

I answered 85% correct. Good Luck Americans.

Who does #2 work for?

So who does number 2 work for? Intern number 2 came to work today and asked if there was anything he could do for me.

Once upon a time there was an Intern named Intern#2 who was trying to learn everything there was to learn about the radio business. So to make sure I was happy he offered to get me coffee.

But the coffee here at Radio city just wasn't cutting it.

It didn't taste good at all.

So I sent Intern #2 out for better coffee... he stopped at someplace called "Something" pantry but they said we had to clear it with corporate for us to use their name.

The coffee was good but it wasn't quite right....

So as any good intern, Intern #2 kept looking for what "Goldilocks", me, actually wanted a Chai Tea.

And the Chai Tea was just right making me very happy and Intern #2 on his way to a career in broadcasting.

The Summer tour begins with Harborfest

Wow it's time for another KTI Summer Tour to begin. And as always it was time to head to Racine's beautiful lakefront for Harborfest to see the Smithereens and .38 Special with a couple of our special KTI Insiders Kay and husband Joe....

Kay and Joe got the VIP treatment backstage.

and got to get on stage to throw KTI t-shirts to the crowd.

Joe and I trying to set up a golf date.

You mean the beer is free back here?

After the Smithereens were done I had a special moment with Pat their lead singer....

A little Southern Fried Rock with .38 Special.

they definitely "Rocked into the Night"

Next up the Big Gig and more Summer fun.

Welcome to Broadcasting Intern #1

This summer rather than try to learn and remember the WKTI summer interns names, I've decided to just use the numbering system. It's just so much easier to remember. So as each intern arrives I just give them their corresponding number. Intern number 1 is a very eager young broadcaster, she's already learned how to staple concert tickets together, use the WKTI fax machine, and work with Microsoft excel all excellent skills to further her broadcast career. This week though she has taken her learning to new levels with a run to Quiznos and cleaning my desk.
I have to admit my desk is more of a dumping ground than workspace as you can tell, but if you really want to learn the ropes in broadcasting....

But it is very important for Number 1 to see what goes into a broadcast day, and yea I'm not sure what was in that baggie either.....

The coffee cups must not have been cleaned in months.

It's hard work cleaning, I mean it's hard work learning all about broadcasting so you must keep hydrated.......

And occassionally it can make you just a little crazy.

Wow job well done isn't the world of broadcasting exciting?

I've got pictures

Dear Mr Kyle, a few years ago I was out in downtown Milwaukee with my camera. I ran into you at one establisment having a VERY good time, I mean a VERY good time. I then took out my camera and took some pictures of you. Pictures that I'm not sure you want to get out to the public. Do you think you would like your "7 listeners" to know about you wearing a hat like this in public?

Yes that could be quite embarrassing. Do you honestly want your listeners
to see you dancing up on random ladies that you met that night? I mean TWO at a time?

And I know you don't want anyone to even know what you were doing in this picture?

If you want to remain the number 1 DJ you will listen to my demands or else I will release these pictures to the press and I'm sure you don't want that to happen.

So my demands are simple all I need is Summerfest tickets, Wisconsin Dells tickets, State Fair Tickets, Brewers, Bucks, Packers tickets, and concert tickets for the rest of my life. And oh yea I want to be acknowledged as a listener. I've been ignored too long by you and WKTI.

Sincerely,

The never talked about "8th" listener

So I have this shirt

So my Samba dancing forced me to get bedazzled with a Sequin shirt that I had to buy for the Dancing with Stars thing I did. But NOW what do I do with it. It's a nice "Sequin shirt" I don't want to just hang it in the back of my closet next to my "Parachute pants" I've got to find someplace to wear my shirt. Maybe I should just start wearing it in my regular wardrobe...you know spice it up a bit....

I could wear it to one of my appearances at Small Stones.

Hey isn't it KTI's Summer Kickoff in the Wisconsin Dells? How about on the Lazy River at the Great Wolf?

I hope the pool filter won't get clogged with Sequins. What do you think should I be bedazzled? Should I just add it to my wardrobe?
Should I find more places to SHINE?

Do I need more Shirts that Sparkle?

Yea probably not.
